A graphic designer is in charge of putting together the images, typography, and motion graphics to create a piece of design. In an IT project team, the graphic designer’s main task is web design, the process of planning and creating of a website.

These different IT-related jobs must work together under the project manager to successfully finish the projects at hand. Though being a programmer, designer, or web developer may sound difficult, it is the project manager who has the most difficult task as he is in charge of making sure that everything is organized, interacting with the client, supervising the team’s work, and documenting all the progress and results. There are several components of IT project management. Apart from the technical factors such as web design, development, programming, and systems analysis, the essentials of project management still apply. One of these components is risk management, which is defined as the identification, assessment, and prioritization of risks. Another important component of the project management training is strategic planning, which is easily defined as “realistic planning.” This is different from ordinary planning, because this employs the manager’s ability to deal with the expected and unexpected contingencies over the duration of the project.

Along with training for the essentials, there are also complications that are common to IT project teams, such as unrealistic deadlines set by the manager, unmanaged risks, poor cohesion and communication within the team, and vague goals and objectives. These things are also the problems of any other manager, and it is essential that these are remedied immediately or the situation will get out of hand, making the team lag behind deadlines, or, at worst, be unable to finish the projects on or before the scheduled deadline.
